A heavy winter storm brought the first snow of the season to Montana this October. Warnings and advisories remained in effect while the weather hit the area. The ice led to crashes and held up commuters. Winter enthusiasts discovered fresh deep snow after the storm and posted videos of the conditions online. One dog drew attention for its reaction to the falling snow. Sunshine returned to the area as the mercury rose slowly. The event marks the start of the winter weather for the state.
